Today is a new day and it’s time for a new post.
I have found The mans name!! His called Bud, I found it after some snooping on the internet.
What I’m going to write about in this post is the setting and the social environment of the novel.
Since the book is divided into three parts (all named after Leo Kingship’s daughters. Leo Kingship is Dorothy’s father) the setting changes while you’re reading. In the first part the story takes place on Stoddard College, where Bud and Dorothy are both students. In the second part Bud transfers to Caldwell College and the story continues there. When the book ends Bud is back home.
You can’t say that the book is like another world but is definitely from another time periode.
Some exaples;
-Bud served in world war II.
– Dorothy and Bud where forced to get married after Dorothy got pregnant. As getting an illegitimate child where socially unacceptable, especially for Dorothy who came from a rich and well known familly
– How Ira Levin is writing( Leo Kingship is writing to his daughter, Ellen; I recevied your last letter and am sorry not to have replied sooner,but the demands of business have been especially pressing of late)
In my opinion the authers language is pretty old-fashioned. It has probably something to do with the fact that the book was published in 1954 and the story is suposed to take place in 1950-1952.
PS: Sorry for wirting an extremely boring post but this is after all my school blog……
